Report: Hochstein's mission has not failed, will return to Beirut with final proposal
The mission of U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein in Israel on October 23 did not fail and the meetings he held there were very good and based on what he achieved during his last visit to Beirut, U.S sources told MTV on Tuesday.
"Hochstein left Tel Aviv for Washington to complete his work and fill the gaps that are still pending between Lebanon and Israel," the sources added, stressing that "these gaps have now become much narrower towards reaching not only a truce for days and weeks, but towards a permanent and sustainable truce."
The sources pointed out that "Hochstein will head to Beirut within a week or two at most, after the results of the U.S. elections are announced and will not return to Israel before that, seeing as he found acceptance by the Israeli side of a diplomatic and political solution with Lebanon."
Sources involved in the negotiations meanwhile confirmed to MTV that “Hochstein will return to Beirut in 10 days or a little more, with a final proposal for a diplomatic solution between Lebanon and Israel,” saying: “There are pending points in the negotiations related to the mechanism for implementing Resolution 1701, but it seems that these points are on their way to being resolved.”
