Bou Saab: Reaching ceasefire possible within few weeks
Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab on Friday said that Israel is “obliged to resort to a diplomatic solution” with Lebanon and that “the atmosphere is suitable for that.”
“We expect the U.S. mediator to visit the region next week,” Bou Saab told Sky News Arabia.
“Reaching a ceasefire is possible within a few weeks,” he added.
He also noted that “Israel's goal is not to eradicate Hezbollah, but rather to create a weapons-free zone in the south” and that “a large-scale ground invasion of Lebanon was not not the objective of the Israeli operation.”
"Lebanese should assume, as Speaker Berri does and Hassan Nasrallah did, that Israel will always resort to a diplomatic solution we prefer because we say they are obligated to do so. Lebanese have always been able to rely on Hezbollah to defend the country and Israel would never change their minds and come after any part of Lebanon's territory besides the fringe of the South where a weapons-free zone has already been there for decades. There is nothing more the government of Lebanon needs to do; the Israelis have everything to do to stop this war of aggression they started against our beautiful Muslim nation. If only they would accept that Lebanon's sworn allegiance is to the Ayatollah, they would stop starting these wars against the peaceful Lebanese which results in the genocide they pursue against everyone but Jews." ... or some such up-is-down, inside-is-outside, left-is-right confusion of the mind which is the profession Boob Saab calls "Lebanese diplomacy".
