Berri says only 1701 on table, 'rejects German and British role'
Speaker Nabih Berri has stressed that only U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006) should be present on the table of negotiations, adding that “both sides should work on implementing its stipulations and commit to them, not only the Lebanese side.”
Commenting on the flurry of optimistic Israeli media reports in recent days, Berri told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper that Lebanon has not been officially informed of any new suggestion.
“Lebanon is waiting for tangible proposals to be submitted in order to act accordingly,” the Speaker added.
Western diplomatic sources meanwhile told the daily that “Berri has objected against one of the most important elements of the proposed solution,” noting that “there are efforts to resolve Berri’s objection against German and British participation in a mechanism that is being suggested to implement Resolution 1701, which also comprises the U.S. and France.”

Put Berri in Jail now! Enough acting as HizbIran spokesman! Enough hijacking Shia! Enough of this dinosaur killing Lebanon unique opportunity for permanent peace and prosperity! Implementing UN 1559 will immediately insure withdrawal of Israeli army and open flood of aid to army and country. All Hizb properties must be confiscated to help displaced and all politicians that allowed its arms and occupation should be brought to justice. No 2-state solution without disarming Hizb & Hamas, if Berri truly cares about Palestinian!

Before September Nabih Berri’s only positive legacy, if there’s one to speak of, was the rebuilding of the infrastructure of South Lebanon. Since then most if not all of this infrastructure is in smouldering rubble. Nabih Berri only remaining legacy will be his dishonesty, corruption, embezzlements and deceit. No one deserves this dark legacy more than him. He will share this with Michel Aoun.
