Berri says ceasefire chances above 50%

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has said that the chances of reaching a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel are now above 50 percent, noting that U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein has obtained a green light from U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to press on with the negotiations.

In an interview with ad-Diyar newspaper, Berri added that he will declare his final stance on Hochstein's latest ceasefire proposal next week.

Stressing that Lebanon will not accept any amendment or addition to U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701, the Speaker said any regional pacification will represent a chance to activate the presidential file and that once a ceasefire is reache he will call for a presidential election session.

Berri and Hizbollah are causing the destruction of Lebanon. All Lebanese including most Shia want Hizb disarmed. The army disarming Hizb will end war and insure Israel complete withdrawal. Army must give Hizb ultimatum to hand its Iranian arms that are only beneficial to Iran. Berri and Hizb leaders and cronies must be put in prison and brought to justice for destroying Lebanon. All Hizb properties must be confiscated to help displaced. Enough lying to Lebanese. Time for army to behave like and army and put end to this Iranian brigade called Hizbollah. Only then Shia will be free to rediscover their culture and democracy and maybe help Iranian get rid of their tyrants that have transformed a great civilization into a giant prison.
