Change and Reform Rejects Alleged Parliament Deal that ‘Targets Accountability'

Change and Reform bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan, who has proposed a draft law on the transportation allowance, rejected an alleged deal to garner a parliamentary support for his suggestion in return for the legalization of spending made above 2005 levels.

In remarks to An Nahar daily published Thursday, Kanaan said: “I don’t think that any official or lawmaker can tolerate the offense of such a settlement that hits sound governmental effort allowing cabinet spending and targets accountability and transparency.”

His remark came after reports said a deal was struck between top officials on Wednesday for the opposition March 14 lawmakers to support Kanaan’s draft law and a $5.9 billion 2011 spending bill that would legalize spending by the government above 2005 levels in return for dropping demands by the Change and Reform bloc to see the accounts of spending made by the previous governments of Fouad Saniora and Saad Hariri.

The parliamentary majority and mainly the Change and Reform bloc of MP Michel Aoun has accused Saniora and Hariri of corruption while spending $11 billion above the budget ceiling and called for holding them accountable.

Other sources from Aoun’s bloc told An Nahar that attempts to link the $5.9 billion spending bill with the $11 billion spent by the previous governments are not acceptable.

The deal in the works by the corrupt has to do with absolving Hariri Mafia with Saniora at its head of the financial crimes committed since the days of Rafic Syria, Syria's best Rafic. HELL NO. Enough is enough. These thieves and crooks must be thrown behind bars pending their hanging. This is the deal that we the decent Lebanese deserve. Try them and hang them. Period.

If they are innoncent, why are they against being accountable. Maybe they should be referred to the STL, in case they have no trust in the lebanese one. LOL

don't you think most of that money was spent rebuilding the mess hassouny got us into when he started a war with israel? while we are at it why not open an investigation into unpaid electricity, illegal buildings, previous governments spendings, the money aoun gladly accepted as president donated by millions around the world etc etc. lets start looking forward and agree that all of these leaders m8 and m14 have stolen, maybe we can concentrate on chosing better leaders?

FPM has lost the last shred of credibility with the nahas issue and the red diesel scandal.
over spending $6 billion in ONE year against spending 11B over 5 years are 2 different things.
FPM is just playing politics to steal more money and power.
if you wise guys do not believe me, then please go to Tayyar.org and see the comments over there which are self explanatory
