Bou Habib voices support for new Syria in call with its FM

Syrian interim foreign minister Asaad al-Shibani has received a phone call from Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, Syria's official news agency SANA said.

Bou Habib stressed "the Lebanese government's support for the new Syrian government, congratulating the Syrian people on their victory," SANA added.

Shibani for his part emphasized "the depth of the brotherly relation and common history between the Syrian and Lebanese peoples and the need to preserve it in a manner that contributes to the two countries' interest."

The two ministers also agreed to "intensify the efforts to enhance the region's stability and preserve its security."

A statement issued by the Lebanese Foreign Ministry said Bou Habib told Shibani that "Lebanon hopes for the best neighborly relations with the new government in Syria."
