Geagea to Qassem: You are the state!
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Thursday commented on remarks by Hezbollah chief Sheikh Naim Qassem about the Lebanese state’s responsibility in confronting Israel’s violation of the ceasefire agreement.
“Sheikh Naim Qassem has said that the resistance had prevented the enemy from advancing and that the Lebanese state now has a chance to prove itself. Sheikh Naim, the state is you now. You have the sweeping majority in the government, so take the appropriate stance,” Geagea said in a post on the X platform.
Qassem said Wednesday that "there is now a chance for the Lebanese state to prove itself (against Israel's violations) through political action."
Noting that any attack on south Lebanon is "an attack on the state and the international community," Qassem said "the Lebanese state is the side responsible for following up on the ceasefire with the agreement enforcement committee."
