Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri met Thursday with France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, who arrived on Monday in Lebanon, where a fragile truce since late November ended intense fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.

Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot and Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu had met Monday with Lebanon's army chief Joseph Aoun, and visited Tuesday U.N. peacekeepers near the Israeli border in south Lebanon.

Aoun and the visiting ministers discussed "ways to strengthen cooperation relations between the armies of the two countries and to continue support for the army in light of current circumstances".

Lecornu said on X that he will also meet with a French general representing Paris "within the ceasefire monitoring mechanism".

The monitoring body brings together Lebanon, Israel, the United States, France and the United Nations' UNIFIL peacekeeping mission. It is meant to support the implementation of the ceasefire and assess violations.

It is an insult for every Lebanese that Berri, the dean of political mafia complicit with HizbIran in destroying and bankrupting Lebanon is representing Lebanon in international negotiations along with Hizb appointed prime minister and cabinet full of Basij, Assad appointees, FPM traitors, and Baathists. These traitors are digging Lebanon’s grave while army incompetent at disarming the Iranian brigade and criminal organization called Hizbollah. Parliament must resign immediately to elect new PMs truly representing Lebanese and their aspirations. Nassaralah is a bigger criminal than Assad and it is time to liberate Lebanon from this criminal Iranian brigade sucking the life out of Lebanon. Only solution is Cedar Revolution II to liberate Lebanon from Iranian occupation and put all these criminals in jail and restore freedom, sovereignty, democracy and justice.
