Shammas Says Companies Won’t Receive Fuel Tomorrow, Brax Warns of Black Market
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةEnergy Minister Jebran Bassil refrained on Wednesday from signing the weekly fuel price list “in an attempt to lower the prices of fuel.”
Meanwhile, fuel importing companies were unable to designate the weekly price and halt the losses that they are incurring as a result of the stabilization of the prices.
The head of the Association of Petroleum Importing Companies Maroun Shammas has therefore ordered that petrol stations will not receive fuel starting Friday.
He told the daily An Nahar in remarks published on Thursday that fuel companies can no longer sustain more losses after three weeks of the crisis.
He also questioned whether they will receive compensations should the prices decrease next week.
Shammas added that the companies strived to avert a fuel crisis but “they are no longer able to continue supplying it, which will cause them to halt the supply on Friday.”
Gasoline Station Owners Union President Sami Brax meanwhile warned of the black market if the crisis persisted.
