Report: Local-foreign efforts seek release of 16 Israel-held captives
Lebanese and foreign efforts are underway to address the file of the Lebanese captives who are being held by Israel, prominent parliamentary sources told Kuwait’s al-Anbaa newspaper.
The file had made progress in early 2025 with the release of some captives before the talks ground to a halt.
The sources said Israel is holding 16 Lebanese fighters while there are “dozens” of fighters who are still missing and whose fate is still unknown.
The Lebanese detainees were captured during and after the 2024 war between Israel and Hezbollah.
