Jumblat blasts Lebanon negotiators, Aoun and Salam for 'ignoring' Armistice Agreement
Former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat called again Monday on Lebanon to return to the 1949 Lebanese–Israeli Armistice Agreement, describing it as a "cornerstone" of the relations between Lebanon and Israel.
"It is an integral part of the Taif Agreement. It was mentioned in the presidential oath and reaffirmed by the ministerial statement," Jumblat posted on the X platform, as he lashed out at Lebanese negotiators and the Lebanese President and Prime Minister, accusing them of "overlooking — if not completely deleting — it."
"The senior negotiators, along with the elite advisors in Baabda and the group of specialists in the Serail, saw fit to overlook it," he said.
Jumnlat on Saturday criticized a trilateral framework agreement between Lebanon, Israel and the United States, saying it completely ignored the Armistice Agreement.

Oh here we go! This narcissist misses the point completely. The 1949 Agreement is no longer valid and for one simple reason: Jumblatt's allies (Hezbollah) attacked Israel at least twice unprovoked. The first in support of Gaza and the second to avenge the death of Khamanei. It is also noted this mouthpiece never mentioned Hezbollah once and what it did to Lebanon and the destruction it brought upon the Lebanese. I wish he faces his creator soon.
Walid Jumblatt, just STFU for once. You're irrelevant. You're a relic of the past. You and Berri belong in the dustbin of history.
You can tell that an agreement is ok when both Walid Jumblatt and Nabih Berri hate it. Walid Jumblatt forgot that he supported the 2022 maritime agreement between Lebanon and Israel which gave Israel 1,430 km2 of Lebanese maritime rights. The 1949 Lebanese–Israeli Armistice Agreement was good but we completely shot it down when we signed the 1969 Cairo Accord. And his father Kamal Jumblatt was one the staunchest supporters of the Cairo Accord because it legitimized the PLO's armed presence in Lebanon. Walid Jumblatt seems to be reliving the 1980s when he followed what Nabih Berri did.
