Israel strikes Nabatieh al-Fawqa, demolishes houses in border villages

The Israeli army struck Tuesday a residential building in the southern town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa along the Israeli-declared Yellow Line.

Forces also detonated overnight into Tuesday houses in Adshit, Markaba, Deir Seryan, Qseir, Majdalzoun, al-Mansouri and Bint Jbeil.

On Monday, Israeli forces detonated houses in Taybeh, Markaba and Kfatebnit, while artillery shelled Tallousa and Markaba.

United Nations' human rights chief Volker Türk said Monday as he visited Lebanon that Israel must end its occupation of large areas of southern Lebanon and halt the demolition of homes.

Türk said some Israeli actions in Lebanon could amount to war crimes, echoing criticism from other human rights groups over the widespread destruction of towns and villages, and the dozens of medical workers and journalists killed.

"Demolition of this type raises huge flags about compliance with international humanitarian law," Türk said, describing what has happened as a "wholesale destruction" of civilian homes.

There is no solution for Lebanon in the visiting and complaining by United Nations officials with one of the "rights" files. There is no solution for Lebanon in Hezbollah's false promises of "Resistance" or continuation of revolutionary ascendance of an Iranian, Turkish or Russian conquest then tutalage. There is no solution for Lebanon in the capitals of Brotherly and not so brotherly nations when their leaders' adventures are made to appear in Lebanese interests.

President Aoun has offered the nation its best chance at a solution. We -- no matter to sect, grievance, or country of origin -- have no more promising future than the one achievable by deploying the LAF, earnestly demilitarizing the South and Hezbollah everywhere, and ensuring the foreigners withdraw beyond Lebanon's borders.
