Beirut Examining Magistrate Ghassan Owaidat postponed on Friday the questioning of al-Natour brothers to March 19, the National News Agency reported.
Owaidat interrogated Suleiman al-Natour, while his brother Samih’s questioning was adjourned until he presents his “formal argument.”
The two brothers are accused of processing and selling spoiled meat and other food products and for the attempted murders of the consumers to whom they knowingly sold the food.
Owaidat issued arrest warrants against the two brothers, and postponed the questioning session to Monday.
The Ministry of Economy’s Consumer Protection Directorate raided last week the warehouse owned by al-Natour brothers in the Sabra area in Tarik el-Jadeedah where they confiscated 25 tons of expired meat.
The issue stirred the “food safety” crisis as the Consumer Protection Directorate raided several other warehouses in al-Fanar, Beirut’s southern suburbs, Tyre, and Marjayoun that were selling spoiled meat and food products.
The seized products included poultry, meat, canned food, cheese and several other consumer products.
The Internal Security Forces detained at least eight other people for food safety violations in separate raids.

FlameThrower....
you are 100% right, but knowing our beloved country, they will come out innocent....they will find an exit to the issue because they are backed by either a politician, or a party, or both .. anyways, the issue is boiling now, but soon to be forgotten like many other issues.
Di3anak ya Lebnan

Agree the least they or we should do (LIFE imprisonment without the possibility of parole should can be considered), can not be more blunt and more deliberate type of action NO MERCY and hope NO ONE will come up with different excuses this time.

you guys are all a bunch of idiots...i work in the meat industry and was informed the product was chilled and expired by 3 days - and lebanon requires a short shelf life. By EU and other countries standards the product would have have another 40 days before it is sold and would have been just fine.
This is just another minor issue taken out of proportion by drama loving "Lesbonese" people...
Yes the importer was wrong selling it in the market but to the extent of accusing him of attempted murder! Ignorance at its finest...
