A vacant building abutting a structure that collapsed in the coastal town of Tabarja, north of Beirut almost two weeks ago tumbled down on Tuesday.

The National News Agency said the building that lies near the Tabarja Beach complex collapsed at 10:55 am, causing no casualties.

The first building collapsed on March 9, killing an Indian worker and injuring seven others.

Authorities had failed to remove the man’s body from under the rubble for fears that the adjacent building would collapsed on them.

NNA said security forces and the Civil Service Department brought the necessary equipment to remove the rubble and retrieve the Indian’s body.

Three students were killed and seven others injured on Saturday when part of a cliff collapsed at the Bhanine school in the northern Minieh-Dinniyeh district.

But the collapse of a building in Beirut’s Ashrafiyeh neighborhood on January 15 has left 27 people dead.
