Ghosn Slams Geagea's Call for Army to Enter Ain el-Hilweh

Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn hit back Thursday at Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea over the latter’s call for the army to storm the Ain el-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp.
“Those behind such calls do not belong to Lebanon, its unity or its future,” Ghosn said in an interview on Al-Manar television.
“Instead of criticizing the army and pushing it into things that defy logic and the national and humanitarian sense, let them care about the people’s needs,” Ghosn said, adding that Geagea’s remarks “are rejected and cannot be accepted under any excuse.”
Last week Geagea stressed the need for the Lebanese authorities to remove all arms inside and outside Palestinian refugee camps, calling on the army to enter Ain el-Hilweh and arrest the head of a Takfiri cell recently busted and accused of plotting bombings against army barracks.
Asked during an interview on Radio Voice of Lebanon on whether such a scenario could lead to “another Nahr al-Bared War,” Geagea said: “I don’t think the issue requires a war similar to Nahr al-Bared, … but should the situation demand a Nahr al-Bared-like war, so be it, and let the Lebanese state extend its authority over its entire territory.”
Ghosn told Al-Manar that the busting of the extremist cell had proved his previous controversial warnings that al-Qaida was present in Lebanon.

La shoo? Obviously minister Ghosn doesn't mind seeing the army being targeted. Why should the refugees be a no man's land? Although there was an agreement between the Lebanese Governement and the Palestinian authorities 40+ years ago the geopolitics radically changed since then. As time passes, the refugees are less likely to return to their homeland. It may not be what we wish for but it certainly looks that way. Independently of this factor, if armed groups are targeting our national army then it should be dealt with accordingly. Our minister is lousy....

So if you were proven right and Extremist do exist inside these camps...what do you suggest Mr. Defense Minister to do about it...just cheerfully wave to them from the outside, and let them be, wait for their next attack to succeed and condemn it on TV?
If Geagea's plan defy logic and humanitarian sense...then what is your proposal to bust these cells inside the camp??? You are Minister of Defense you should have a plan let's hear it.

See double standards again. Ghosn wants to care for the people in the camps. But they offer zero aid to the syrians fleeing major war. Geagea is right in the idea we have to end this armed gang inside the camps. But going in will cost us too many Lebanese soldiers.

This entire generation of politicians must be executed everyone from the right to the left, all of March 8 and all of March 14 lined up on national television and executed for treason for selling our country to one foreign agent or another and for dividing us with sectarian strife. All must die and a new generation of politics must be born a united generation of politics one that seperates religion from state, one that will never allow confessionalism to rear its ugly head in lebanon again a politic that will punish those who divide themselves into religious communities, a politic that serves the death penalty for any return to the ways of M8 and M14.
