Chinese Ambassador Says Arming Hizbullah Merely for Trade

Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Wu Zexian stressed on Friday the arms of Hizbullah are a Lebanese affair that “no one has the right to interfere in.”

“The Lebanese have to launch a dialogue concerning the matter in order to reach consensus,” Zexian told al-Akhbar newspaper in an interview.

Asked about China’s role in providing Hizbullah with high-tech arms, the ambassador stressed that his country isn’t “violating the international guidelines,” revealing that the Chinese government has contacts with the party.

“The Chinese embassy in Beirut isn’t linked to the arms selling matter; it’s not from my specialty or the specialty of the military attaché… We aren’t doing the job of the arms companies that make the deals, it is merely trade-related issues,” Zexian noted.

On the Israeli-Lebanese conflict, the ambassador accused Israel of occupying the Lebanese territories.

“This is clear, we defend the Lebanese right to protect their sovereignty,” he stated.

Asked about the possibility of an Israeli attack on Iran over its nuclear program, Zexian said: “No one can seriously consider attacking Iran, it’s a very dangerous issue that would have its disastrous consequences.”

Israel and much of the international community fear Iran's nuclear program masks a weapons drive, a charge Tehran denies.

Concerning the crisis in Syria, the Chinese diplomat said that the mission of U.N.-Arab countries envoy to Damascus Kofi Anan requires more support.

“Halting violence in Syria is important by launching a (national) dialogue,” Zexian told al-Akhbar.

He pointed out that China rejects any foreign intervention in Syria as “violence will only lead to more violence.”

Violence continues across the country despite a U.N.-backed ceasefire that came into effect April 12. The United Nations has accused both the Syrian regime and the opposition of violating the terms of the truce.

More than 11,000 people, the majority of them civilians, have been killed in Syria since the uprising broke out in March 2011, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

When was the last time the Chinese regime did anything good for the world or for its own people?
China's economic prosperity comes at the expense of great injustices towards its people and working masses.
China is a horrible dictatorship that allies itself with all the despots because it could trade freely and unfairly with their governments and it could exploit their needs and flood their markets.
No wonder the Chinese regime supports Assad and the Iranian regime and is the enemy of every freedom seeking movement in the world.

allahu akbar....what a great man, China is playing a good counter-balance to US and ISraeli mongering in Lebanese affairs

I might have agreed with you Lebancare if China was arming the Lebanese army. However they are arming a militia that is not only mongering in Lebanese affairs but preventing the creation of a strong Lebanese state and army.

In all innocrisy
China boasts its policy of only dealing with Sovereign States and of non interference in their internal affairs no matter what and happen what may!
Well here the interlocutor & "commercial" partner and patron is definitely not a state but a state within The State. Too Chinese for me to grasp

finally there is a new Giant that can face the US! today the world is again split in 2: BRICS supported by the church (Vatican and Moscow) facing US, EU and the gulf. The American hegemony is finally over: power to the people!!

hahaha man look at the statistics... The USA's military budget this year exceeds the military spending by all the countries in the world combined... And that's after a reduction from approximately 1.2 trillion to 770 billion. China's spending is around 100 billion after an increase of 20% per year for last couple of years. Not to forget that the usa has an aircraft carrier with a fleet surrounding it in every corner of the world.

Add to all of that their allies (U.K, Germany, France etc...) then tell me that the american hegemony is over...

well you still do your calculations in military terms, today the real weapons are the Green ones, and the US is sinking in debts for trillions! and guess who bought most of their bonds: China yes
