Prime Minister Najib Miqati highlighted on Thursday Lebanon’s diversity, saying that it is an “example of the convergence of civilizations.”

He said: “The international community must help Lebanon preserve its diversity.”

He made his remarks during a conference in Turkey on the dialogue of civilizations.

The premier credited the coexistence and cooperation between the Lebanese people for ensuring the persistence of this diversity.

He also invited the gatherers to stage next year’s dialogue of civilization conference in Lebanon “in order for them to witness for themselves the coexistences between the country’s various religions and sects.”

Miqati headed to Turkey on Wednesday where he held talks with Prime Minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan.

Diversity? What diversity? The lebanese people have been fighting each other for decades and the years they were not fighting, they were antagonizing each other....This is a Joke.... and Mikati is a joke... look at what is happening in Tripoli, in Beirut, in Akkar etc etc...

"The international community must help Lebanon preserve its diversity."? Honestly why should the international community even care? The only ones that can help preserve the diversity in Lebanon are the Lebanese people themselves if they actually wanted to. Come on, at this rate we will never be independent if we keep depending on the international community to solve our problems.

18 religious communities living relatively peacefully amongst each other in such a small country is diversity. What's happening in Tripoli has nothing to do with the interaction amongst sects, it's political, and besides, it's over a Salafi i.e. terrorist so not sure if there's much room for debate.

Tired of Heznollah defending its arms and Iranian agenda?
Tired of Aoun stealing the country and claiming reform?
Tired of March 14 playing another losing card against Syria?
Tired of all the broken-record politicians on TB pretending they know everything?
Tired of Lebanon being the fighting place for all countries?
If you do click Thumbs Up. I'm just tired of this country. We just want to live and work in peace.
