March 14 to Stir Syrian Violations of Lebanon’s Border in Next Dialogue Session
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe March 14 opposition coalition intends to stir the issue of Syrian violations of Lebanese sovereignty during the next national dialogue session later this month, high-ranking sources said Thursday.
The sources told An Nahar daily that the opposition representatives at the all-party talks will bring up the issue on June 25 when top Lebanese leaders convene for the second time since the dialogue resumed under President Michel Suleiman last Monday.
According to the March 14 sources, the two violations by Syrian troops of the Lebanese eastern border area on Wednesday were a political and security message aimed at targeting the “Baabda Declaration” made following the national dialogue session on Monday.
The continued silence of the authorities, the government and the allies of the Syrian regime in Lebanon to the violations committed by Syrian troops would put a double responsibility on them when questioned as to how they intend to safeguard the declaration, the sources told An Nahar.
In a statement issued after the Baabda palace meeting, the 16 leaders agreed among other things on the need to control the Lebanese-Syrian border and rejected the idea of a buffer zone between the two countries.
The March 14 forces have counted 21 violations of Lebanon’s eastern and northern border since November 2011, An Nahar said.
They described the infiltration of Syrian troops into the eastern border town of Arsal on Wednesday as very dangerous, saying Lebanese authorities should have filed a complaint with the U.N. Security Council.
An Nahar quoted security sources as saying that the soldiers entered up to three kilometers inside Lebanese territories and kidnapped Mohammed Khaled al-Hujairi from his farm. They also set ablaze a farm house belonging to the town’s municipal chief Ali al-Hujairi.
The kidnapped man was released later in the day.
The other violation of Lebanese sovereignty on Wednesday was made when Syrian troops crossed briefly into eastern Lebanon's border region of Masharii al-Qaa and planted mines around the home of a local resident, a Lebanese security official told Agence France Presse.
The official said the troops entered some 300 meters inside Lebanese territory and placed the mines outside Mohammad Akeel's home.
About time! although I doubt there will be a second meeting as the goal for which the meeting was set in the first place was achieved and what is left is the weapons of hizbushaitan and their alignment with the falling syrian regime. thus I foresee they will not want to meet anymore :)
geha, they are playing smart
No one wants to lose
They are watching carefully situation in Syria
You as well as Geagea the lebanese forces terminator who killed all Bachir's comrads are a disgrace to the lebanese forces and christians
Now you are mercenaries for the Saudi Pay Checks
poor karim.... i guess it s the wahabbis who kidnap regularly lebanese in the north, i guess it s wahabbis who plant mines on lebanese soil, it s also them who shoot across the border on lebanese!!!
you d bark out loud if israel did it buthere you say nothing huh? like a nice traitor you are...
no it is your friends the syrians who do all that, so you d better shut th f up instead of protecting a foreign army that is violating the sovereignty of lebanon... but i guess you think that lebanon and syria are one country... loser
Israel is more civilized and developed, no comparison can be made between Iran, Syria and US, Israel, small country like Lebanon with limited resources has no interest in following medieval contries like Iran. We cannot afford to fight the world and create enemies, u want to liberate Jeruzalem and wait for the hidden prophet, go do it in Iran, i am being descriminated in UAE because of Hassan Nassralla, it's becoming very difficult for Shia lebanese to get a Visa and live a decent life.
"The March 14 forces have counted 21 violations of Lebanon’s eastern and northern border since November 2011, An Nahar said."
not a single word from M8 about these violations of the lebanese sovereingty... i guess they thank syria for it...
not a single word from the so called "resistance"!
they cry for each violation from israel but not a word for syria...
whereas M14 denounces both violations!
it proves their definiton of independence... and they want people to trust them? lol....
@peace, those 2 jokers above don't mind our sovereignty to be violated by Syria...you only hear their voices when an Israeli plane flies over...They do not understand that we want NO ONE on our soil, and No foreign influence, and I put in the same bag Syria, Saudi Arabia, Israel,Iran, India or Mexico!
These guys who hold the Lebanese government now are not about to protest or even peep about the Assad Regime doing whatever is necessary to survive, even violating Lebanese sovereignty. Had Assad "requested" to come into Lebanon, would Suliman or Mikati have refused? With Hezbollah's guns to their heads? No. Assad just did what he figures he has a right to do with regard to Lebanon, given his retainers and benefactors who have the government in Beirut.
Perhaps in the next decade or the one after that these same useless loud mouths will raise the violations by their friends and partners-in-filth the Israelis.
