A Syrian force infiltrated the area of al-Qaa in Lebanon as rockets fired in clashes on the Syrian side of the border fell in the area.

Voice of Lebanon radio reported that the Syrian unit entered al-Qaa under the cover of artillery and rocket fires.

It remained in the region for some 20 minutes, it added.

LBCI television reported that rockets fired during clashes in the Syrian town of al-Nizariyeh fell in al-Qaa.

No one was harmed in the incident.

Al-Jadeed television had also reported that rocket-propelled grenades used in the clashes also fell in the Lebanese border area.

Since the start of anti-regime protests in Syria in March 2011, Syrian troops have repeatedly infiltrated Lebanon’s eastern and northern regions in pursuit of armed terrorist gangs.

Several Lebanese people and Syrian refugees in Lebanon have been killed or wounded in the incidents.

On Thursday, the Lebanese Army Command had announced that it will begin deploying along the border in the North and Bekaa in order to control the situation in the region.

The army has been ordered to immediately retaliate to any shooting against it.

The government has stressed during a session last week the need to bolster the army’s presence along the Lebanese-Syrian border.

then what use is this army? just to shoot down a sheikh in akkar?
why are we even paying them salaries?

I'm simply replying to all those who posted here expecting the army to engage the Syrians and defend the border, the national army's job is to defend their nation's sovereignty last time I checked regardless of how poorly they are equipped other wise why the hell do we need an army? Besides didn't the army's command say that they will respond to any violation no matter the source?

then why deploy the army in the north? once more, is it to support the syrian regime and round up the syrians fleeing the terror in their country?
is this the role we see for our army?

are you out of your mind? How do you expect hezbollah to engage with the much stronger Israeli army? With their outdated katiouchas? Vs their f18s?? hahahahaha....

and the illiterates claim that they are patriotic but then question the army's ability to confront the syria army? you are a disgrace! the free syrian army is fighting the syrian army with guns and rpgs so certainly the lebanese army has better weapons than that! further, hisbullah fights israel without any tanks, so why cant the lebanese army? this is all a joke. them patriots are nothing but the garbage of lebanon and want the status quo to remain so they get rich. i recall not long ago, when we called for the syrians to withdraw from lebanon, they were making similar arguments and scaring us that a civil war would start and we need the syrians to remain!
