Unknown assailants tossed at dawn Sunday a stun grenade at the protest site of Salafist cleric Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir in the southern city of Sidon, the National News Agency reported.
According to the NNA, there were no casualties, and no damage was caused.
Immediately the internal security forces and an army unit arrived at the scene and took the necessary measure.
A probe was opened into the incident.
Al-Asir accused Hizbullah and AMAL members of being behind the incident, and held them responsible for any bloodshed in the area.
The Salafist cleric launched at the end of June his open-ended sit-in to protest non-state arms, including Hizbullah's arsenal.
He is demanding an end to the “hegemony of illegitimate arms,” saying that he will not put a stop to the Sidon sit-in until this goal is achieved.
Al-Asir has threatened an escalation if the arms issue is not tackled by Lebanese authorities.
Later on Sunday, al-Asir and his supporters staged a demo on Sidon's seaside highway without blocking the key road that connects the South to Beirut, amid the deployment of army troops in the area.

Someone wants to light up Lebanon. It will happen sooner or later.

Guys, since it is now a who's beard is longer competition, who would you want to stay if you'd had the choice between the salafis and the yellows...
Shitty option I know but if you had to choose one of either. And do think about your answer before throwing off verbal diarrhea bombs at each other... ;)

Like this guy or not which I personally disagree with his method but support his goal , this man has guts that most Lebanese lack, so more power to him.

Hezbollah and Amal try to intimidate any one that opposes their military and moral hegemony. Asir is no saint but as shab and fadi said, he's got guts to face them unarmed with a tongue as his only weapon. He deserves our respect.
