Airport security succeeded on Monday in thwarting a drug smuggling operation at the Rafik Hariri International Airport, reported the National News Agency.

The security forces arrested two Australians as they were attempting to smuggle drugs hidden in sweets.

It explained that airport security grew suspicious of the two travelers, who were in possession of six boxes of sweets weighing about 20 kilograms.

Upon inspection, they found out that drugs were “very well hidden” in the sweets.

The Australians, who were returning to their homeland through Abu Dhabi in the UAE, have since been detained and investigations are underway with them to uncover the details of the crime.

the funny part is that they said they were Australians, but what they forgot to mention is that they are of Lebanese origin. That is disgraceful. I wish the day will come and people will stop hiding behind their own figure.
