The Army Intelligence Branch detained a man who allegedly committed a murder over the weekend in Baalbek, reports said on Tuesday.

Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) reported that Ziad al-Qoueiq was arrested overnight Monday.

The offender opened fire at a three-member family in Baalbek on Sunday night, killing 45-year old Mohammed Sobhi Zoaiter and his son Ayla Mohammed Zoaiter, 14, while 32-year-old Randa Badri Zoaiter sustained a serious injury to the head.

Mohammed and Ayla died at the scene, but the mother was rushed to a nearby hospital.

The family members were shot in the head using a 9 mm gun at their house in the Bekaa valley town of Hadath Baalbek.

The causes of the incident remain unknown.

I hope that by catching the criminal who killed those poor Zoaiters, we will have the Bekaa clans start respecting the state authority. If the Zoaiters get under the law, the rest will probably follow...
