Hizbullah on Friday described the assassination of Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan, chief of the Intelligence Bureau of the Internal Security Forces, as an “ugly crime” and an “vicious attempt to undermine stability and national unity.”

In a statement, the party “strongly” condemned “the abominable crime that targeted Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan.”

Hizbullah called on security and judicial authorities to “exert utmost efforts to unveil the circumstances of the crime, identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.”

In an earlier statement, the party condemned the bombing that targeted the Beirut district of Ashrafiyeh.

“Hizbullah was greatly shocked by this tragic terrorist crime that hit al-Ashrafiyeh area and killed and wounded dozens of people,” said the statement.

The party called on all Lebanese parties, political forces and citizens to close ranks to foil any conspiracy against the security of the country and the safety of its citizens.

The powerful car bomb rocked a street adjacent to Sassine Square in Ashrafiyeh, leaving Hasan and seven other people dead and 78 people wounded, in the first such attack in the Lebanese capital since 2008.

Who is undermining stability here. The Syrian regime is readily killing its own people anyone here thinks Assad and his collaborators would think twice about killing and terrorizing the Lebanese people??? And by the way can anyone tell be what purpose burning tires and blocking roads serve in the mourning process of Brig. General Wissam Al Hasan and the other innocent people? Enough with burning tires! Enough with blocking roads! Enough with terrorizing people! Too many gangs, too many criminals! Too many willing to sink our beloved Lebanon.
