Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi condemned on Friday political action aimed at achieving personal gains and obstructing the functioning of state institutions.
“The church condemns all political performance that is solely limited to achieving personal gains at the expense of the public interest and that aims at obstructing state institutions … in search for power,” al-Rahi said in his opening statement of a seminar held in Bkirki.
“Politics is a moral work that is incompatible with corruption, despotism and dependence on money or abroad,” he said.
Al-Rahi rejected any political work that limits the will of the people and exceeds their exceptions and needs by imposing on them an undesirable status quo.
The patriarch visited President Michel Suleiman on Thursday, lauding his call for dialogue.
Only dialogue can provide an opportunity for “transition to a better political and economic period,” he said.

in the advanced countries monseigneur/:politics is incompatible with religion.we only need ur prayers, god bless.

You are funny...the most religious people are people like you with fully religious party that act in the name of God or for each and every speech, your politicians speak in the name of God...
The Christian will agree to start separating religion from politics the day all other religions start doing it - dont count on the Christian to start this trend... especially that ALLL the regional contries are now ruled by fanatic governments..
Bkirki only call for freedom, respect of State institutions, Constitution while your people spoil it, steal it, tarnish it and see it like a good company to make money.
We have nothing in common....this is a sad reality

ya tony, mufti rahi and monseigneur kabbani must stick to their job... and leave to cesar.....
let's start with civil marriage..
N.B. i'm not religious thanks..christian...muslim... wahaby ..farsi.. c est de la MERDE.

I wish those religious freaks stick to religion and not politics.
lebanon is a sik tuti fruti country.

Politics is a moral work that is incompatible with corruption, despotism and dependence on money or abroad
who do you think this one is aimed at?

Mustapha is 100% right! Although, I was called a christian extremist by "Perestroika" the other day, but, I must admit that this guy, hassoun, and all other religious leaders (including Iranians): keep it to yourself, because religion was meant to link humans w God/Good; unfortunately, it is just causing wars. Moreover, these guys must be taxed, and put them to work, you are totally useless...

The people of Lebanon are with you Patriarch ! All religions supporting your call.

Ya Saydna, first of all there is no need for a dialogue at this point as half of the people sitting at that table are either killers or are supporting the killing machine of ASSad.
Second of all, I agree with your statement condemning those who are "achieving personal gains at the expense of the public interest and that aims at obstructing state institutions". So in this case who are you talking about???? hmmm, let me guess...the ex-general and HA!!! as their actions to destroy this country speak louder than any BS words they try to feed their flock...
Saydna, you should pray for those traitors as they are lost and need your help and guidance...

the vatican has proved recently that it is as political as lebanon...
