Aoun Rules out Need for Dialogue: March 14 MPs Should Resign if They Want to Boycott Parliament

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun criticized on Tuesday the March 14 camp's decision to boycott government work and national dialogue, blaming it for the repercussions of its actions.

He said after the Change and Reform bloc's weekly meeting: “Why are they carrying out the boycott? I do not understand. There is no need for dialogue now and the March 14 MPs should resign if they want to boycott parliament.”

“They are assassinating the country by boycotting parliament,” he added.

“Who will approve the new wages scale at parliament and who will grant the people their rights?” he asked.

“They must end these political debates, assume their responsibilities before the people who elected them, and return to dialogue,” declared the MP.

The March 14-led opposition announced its boycott of government work and the national dialogue in light of the assassination of Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau head Brigadier General Wissam al-Hasan.

It accused Syria of the assassination and blamed the government, which is comprised of pro-Syria allies, of covering up for it.

Hasan was killed in a car bomb in Beirut's Ashrafiyeh district on October 19.

Aoun continued: “Did we kill Wissam al-Hasan?”

“He was primarily responsible for his own security,” he noted in response to a question over who he thinks is behind the murder.

“He was responsible for our security and his own, but he did not take sufficient measures to protect himself,” he added.

Commenting on claims that Hasan's assassination is tantamount to the assassination of Lebanon, he remarked that former Presidents Rene Mouawad and Bashir Gemayel were assassinated, but Lebanon was not.

Asked about the spread of weapons in Lebanon, he replied: “Arms are not spread in the South, but in Akkar.”

“I recently met with a delegation from the region that was urging the intervention of the army in the area in order to tackle the problem,” Aoun said.

Aoun: Through what right are they crippling the country?

  • 06 November 2012, 17:06

Aoun: They are better off resigning from parliament because they are hindering the people's rights.

just look at what he is saying: wisam al Hasan killed himself? this is what he is suggesting :)
the guy is going nuts now that he knows he is going out of the cabinet.at worst the next cabinet will be formed: 10 for m8, 10 for m14 and 10 for centists (at least this is the proposal of hizbushaitan).
what is left for the general in this equation?
he is about to jump ship away from the syrian regime and hizbushaitan hoping he will still get some votes in the upcoming elections.
he is mad.

perestroika
you are judging easily other people, and that is a problem.
Personally I do not defend any political figure, and you can check all my posts, rather I defend an idea of Lebanon the way I know it, definately not syrian nor iranian.
I do attack comments like this one of aoun, especially when it is so outrageous.
if that is acting like sheep in your eyes, then you are free...

Thumb geha 08 November 2012, 10:17

mowaten;
criticizing m8 is normal as they are traitors and sold out to the syrian regime and iran, doing their dirty work on the ground.
it is quite different with m14, who are Lebanese asking to have the Lebanese constitution to be applied as well as having only the Lebanese armed forces handle the country's security and borders.

Thumb bigsami 06 November 2012, 20:03

"as far as Geha's political opinion im in complete argument with is statement we are all entitled to our opinion no matter how wrong they are"

Farsi ASSesistance you have no clue about "entitlement" to anything since your ideology strictly forbids you to think or act for yourself. You are taught to obey and bow like a servant (not to mention strap dynamite and take a stroll in the park". Goat herder!

Thumb bigsami 06 November 2012, 22:18

perestroika....I am not criticizing anyone. I think you calling/insinuating Geha/orangitta as sheep is the only criticism here. I am defending M14 because they are by farrrrrrrrr the lesser of two evils. M8 are the one's who destroyed our country. They defend/support murderers who have been cherry-picking M14 ministers and Lebanese in general. They defend/support scums who are annexed to Bashar and Iran. So if I have to chose.....yes indeed I will chose M14 over these low-lives!

look at this idiot: "March 14 MPs Should Resign if They Want to Boycott Parliament"

why didn't you and your iranian trained bosses resigned from parliament in 2007 and 2008? who was boycotting then? who closed he parliament? who did not ensure quorum for the presidential election?

you don t understand M8 clowns and their double standards...! only them have the right to assassinate the country by shutting the parliament for over a year...

they did that for "the sake of the country", but M14 want to assassinate the country, big LOL!

Default-user-icon me (Guest) 06 November 2012, 18:12

“He was responsible for our security and his own, but he did not take sufficient measures to protect himself,”

Saying something like that proves that actually Lebanon was assassinated...

"They did not assassinate Lebanon" - Actually they did. A country that has become so mediocre at all levels (economic, social, security, quality of its leaders (just read the article above), and uneducated followers (just read the comments above)) IS AN ASSASSINATED COUNTRY.

AND ONLY IDIOTS CAN BELIEVE OTHERWISE...

Thumb bigsami 06 November 2012, 18:27

2 - "THEY ARE ASSASSINATING THE COUNTRY BY BOYCOTTING PARLIAMENT" which his camp boycotted for years, invading downtown and killing us all.
3 - "How come it's only the other camp?" so u weren't shot at, you fool? and even if you'll say you were, don't you understand that the best people on the other side are killed and threatened so that fools like you can govern and stay at the mercy of hizbollah and the assad family?!!!
3 - Spread of Arms - Where is the army and UNIFIL in the South?! and what abt the arms of your friends that are spreading murder and terror in Lebanon?!
Plz spare us your ideas General and, Lebanese, we should start thinking how come such a crazy fool is a leader in any respectable country?!?!!

why do we let this guy lecture us every tuesday- who does he think he is ? are lebanese intellectually bankrupt to believe and listen to this guy? Time to kick this guy to the side and rebuild our country. Nothing positive or even encouraging comes out of this guy's mouth.

but the problem my friend is that Lebanese do not allow a shi3i to become president or a christian to be PM. The problem is sectarianism - as long as posts are allocated based on religion, people will look to their religion before the nation.
This has been the most obvious problem for Lebanon from decades ago. Instead of public figures trying to please their electorate - all they really need to do is please their coregliionists.
The only real solution if you are honest with yourself is to seperate religion from government completely.
