Gemayel on Pierre's Assassination Anniversary: We Will Remain Spearhead Defending March 14 Values
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةPhalange Party leader Amin Gemayel on Sunday stressed that his party “will remain the spearhead” in defending the values of the March 14 camp, insisting that “the army must extend its authority over the 10,452 square kilometers."
“The president (Michel Suleiman) knows the sacrifices of each one of us and Speaker (Nabih) Berri embraced (slain industry minister) Pierre (Gemayel) and cooperated with him and continued with the same admiration towards (MP) Sami (Gemayel) and we salute him. We also thank PM (Najib) Miqati,” said Gemayel in a speech commemorating the sixth anniversary of the assassination of his son, Pierre.
On November 21, 2006, gunmen opened fired at close range on Gemayel's car in the Northern Metn district of Jdeideh, killing the then industry minister and his bodyguard, Samir Chartouni.
“We hope God will inspire those who are in government today so that we can reach safety,” added Gemayel.
The March 14 forces have demanded that Miqati's government step down in the wake of the October 19 assassination of Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau chief Maj. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan.
“I will repeat Pierre's words: We will not accept half a dignity, but rather full dignity. We will not accept an incomplete authority for the army, as the army must extend its authority over the 10,452 square kilometers,” said Gemayel in his speech.
“I thank ex-PM (Fouad) Saniora and ex-PM (Saad) Hariri with whom we started the March 14 revolution and the Phalange Party will remain the spearhead in defending the values we struggled for and only death can tear us apart,” Gemayel stressed.
“We struggled for the Lebanon of dignity and values and our struggle will continue until we achieve all these objectives,” he went on to say.
Gemayel extended gratitude to Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi “who delegated today a very dear person, Cardinal Nasrallah Sfeir.”
Sfeir presided over the commemoration mass held at the Saint Antonios Church in Jdeideh where Gemayel delivered his speech.
“We must all renew the oath so that we continue on the path drawn by the martyrs,” said Gemayel.
He vowed that the Phalange Party “will always remain in Lebanon's service.”
“We will always revitalize the party so that it reflects the image of Pierre, (slain MP) Antoine (Ghanem) and all our martyrs,” Gemayel pledged.

And that is why Pierre paid the ultimate price...
May God always bless your soul...Lebanon misses you.
I miss Bachir and I miss Pierre. They were excellent examples and great leaders. One thing I don't agree with the title of this article is that March 14 has got absolutely no values. I don't know what a great family like Gemayel, that did a lot for Lebanon, is doing in March 14 coalition.
Captain. Dont agree. March 14 has a lot of values. We went to demonstrate on the 14th of March as a reaction to the demonstration of the thugs that HA bussed in on M8 to show them we are a majority. And that their hatred and their syria allegiance and their israel fight are not our priority anymore.
However, the king son, Saad (handpicked by Nazek, not by the lebanese people), did not prove steadfast enough opposite HA. And the message of M14 got lost somewhere...
If truth and honesty were on their side, they could stand to anyone. Gandhi faced the British empire all by himself.
Future Party: Stole and incite hatred
Lebanese Forces: Was something when Bachir was still here.
Progressive Socialist Party: Change their minds, words and stance like a teen-aged girl and we can't rely on them.
Time for Gemayel to move on.
Bachir was strong in a sense that he made all Lebanese unite and love him. Pierre was carrying on his responsibilities very well as a minister. As for Amine, I can hardly think of anything good. I wish he was at least 10% like his father was.
Amine lost a son. And yet he speaks reason as a statesman. Compare this behaviour to the finger raising rat of Dahyieh and his obsessive compulsive Israel complex who only takes hatred and weapons and revenge.
keep dreaming ..Aoun will never be president..and your leader is a rat otherwise he will not hide in a hole..bunch of traitors
exactly. Nasrallah wants revenge from Israel and wants to burn Lebanon in the process. Hariri wants revenge from syria and will burn lebanon in the process. Gemayel does not want revenge. He wants to build a state. Capice?
Ya Amine why dont you ask for the testimony of Pierre's other bodygaurd who survived to be made public?
He is the only witness to any of the killings in Lebanon and you are not asking for his testimony why????
You know who killed your son, and you know its close to your allies but you want to use your son's blood for political gains, like you used your uncle's death to become and MP, your brother's death to become president and your father's death to become leader of the kataeb.
Tfeh!
The rat woke up the other day to arm the Palestinians against the F-16 war games, but still blind wearing 3D yellow glasses and ignores his boyfriend MIG fighter jets dumping bombs on Syrian towns and villages for over a year.
Actually he was "President et 6 ministers" as he once told the medias. A mad megalo man or if you want we can call him 3M.
