U.S. Embassy Celebrates Completion of Sin el-Fil Official School Renovation
Sin el-Fil Official School held on Tuesday a ceremony in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Defense Cooperation after the completion of renovation that cost more than $200,000.
During the opening ceremony, U.S. ambassador Maura Connelly stressed on the importance of education and being able to provide a safe and healthy place to learn.
“We are very proud to have been able to provide assistance to your school to help improve the facilities that benefit your sons and daughters every day,” Connelly said.
The school renovations began in June of 2010 and were completed in May this year.
The project was funded through the U.S. Central Command’s Office of Defense Cooperation, using money from the Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster Assistance, and Civic Aid (OHDACA) funds.
Approximately 150 students from kindergarten through the fifth grade attend the school, but its capacity has now increased to 225 students.
