Al-Rahi from Batroun: We Won’t Allow Anyone to Determine Our Fate

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi on Sunday said Lebanon needs “a new mentality, a new vision and a democratic rhetoric,” stressing that “we will not allow anyone to determine our fate.”

“Those who came before us had paid a heavy price throughout the consecutive and long stages,” al-Rahi added during a meeting with MP Samer Saade, MP Boutros Harb’s representative George Harb and a number of political figures on the second day of his pastoral visit to the northern region of Batroun.

“Lebanon is a factor of stability,” the patriarch stressed.

He also noted that Lebanon is “divided between the March 8 and March 14” rival political camps, calling for a new “social contract based on our (1943) National Pact” -- an unwritten agreement that laid the foundation of Lebanon as a multi-confessional state.

This call is addressed to the Taef architects , in pesence of their Christian Maronites allies , friends and partners Boutros Harb , Samer Saadé & co ..! that are refusing to amend Taef and to restore the Christian Maronite President's prerogatives ...

And you still wonder why GMA wins all the seats in the Christian areas in every election since he came back to Lebanon from his " forced " exile ..!!??

Thank you your Beatitude Patriarch RAI for your very clear position and very clear speech unlike your predecessor Sfeir that was a member of March 14 and a personal partner to Hariri .

I am sorry Mr Rahi but what is ours is ours alone and what is ours and your is ours and sometimes yours. What is yours is yours only if we will decide you can have it otherwise we will take it a give it to someone we deem more deserving. If you don't agree sue us.

Le Fini you Shiite moron Patriarch Rahi was reacting to Nasrallah's speech. Nasrallah wants to be the sole decider on Lebanese matter and wants to determine our fate on his own. A multi-confessional Lebanon goes against everything Nasrallah believes in that's why he said he was against reopening Taef. He want a completely new constitution based on Islamic law he says it himself.

The dynamics are changing in the Middle East, The Syrian regime will not last too long, Chavez has serious medical issues, North Korea will be dealt with via South Korea, who is left alone? the Iranian regime surrounded by Turkey and the new Syrian. I am sure by then the Zionist regime will take care of this one pretty fast. Hassouna will disappear just like Khomeyni when his turn is up.

Abbas, your name is Not Abbas... You chose a Shia name to gie the impression that the Shias are out there to kick Christians out of Lebanon.

You are mistaken, unbenefitial, not Lebanese and a fraud.

@ Abbas Hajj Zeaiter ,

First of all , you dont address a patriarch with Mr ! His tittle is Your beatitude ! But this is Chinese to people like you .... It is a matter of education and civilization habibé and dear compatriote .. ..

Second , what you wrote is a dream and a wishful thinking that YOU people have in mind since 1958 !! If you understand what I mean ya Abbas ya habibé !!

But what I am sure of , is that your name is not what you wrote , in reality , you are a Sunni not a Shiite , because a Lebanese Shiite will never address the Maronite Patriarch like you did , you only did it with a Shiia name , to try and break the union between the Maronites and the Shiias that was signed in a Church between the 2 giants and leaders ; GMA and Sayed al moukawama .

Your Sunni Saudi Wahhaby poison that you spread here and there , will not work , even If Kraytem and Bayt el Wassat will spend billions of petrodollars in the Médias for that .

Say hello to Marwan Hmédé for me .

Michel S., I am as Shiite as you and Le Phenicien are Christians. If you don't like it tough, my tribe is the majority by far and we will rule this country the way we see fit and we don't care if you or Mr Rahi like it.

Le Phenicien, I am a Shiite and if you believe this man is a Shiite as well then let me apologize on our behalf. The way he spoke of the Patriarch is no way to speak of a man of his religious stature and does not reflect our respect towards Maronite compatriots in this government. And believe me when I say, he is not a Shiite as it's a fake name. For now, let's enjoy our successful unity and ignore all people trying to incite division as the Sayyed and GMA state. And please Phenicien, stop wasting your time arguing with people on this website as they're too narrow-minded and racist. You have more than two zionists each commentary on this biased website. All the best.

Guys we are obviously all Shiites here Le Phenicien, Michel S., lebanswer, can't we just all get along after all out tribe will rule no matter what..

Thumb sasi 04 July 2011, 00:13

lebanswer, Le phenicien is entertaining for one. second, he is diplomatic even if he has some hatred comment but we do not want him to go.

P.s quit calling each one against Nassrallah and hezbollah a zionist, I am against M8 and M14 even sometimes i find that M14 are close to my opinion but reality is,

I will be pro the one that offers me to come back to lebanon from living as an immigrant abroad, i am pro the one that will spread a real democracy and freedom and teach teh people to respect human values, i am pro the one that will build a nation from the banana republic, and that will offer us an infrastructure.

Anyhow, please i find it offensive for a young lebanese suffering abroad to be called zionist just because i cant admire Nassrallah and his power abuse and the way he sees Lebanon.

I dislike as i said Israel and their politics of hate and arrogancy in the region. So khafif zionists we balout!

Sasi, I wasn't talking about you or my lebanese counterparts when I said Zionists but on a few articles in the past I've encountered arguments with non-lebanese discriminating us and not denying their Zionist entity. As for you, you're entitled to your opinion and I respect that but please believe that I'm not religious and I believe in co-existence above all. When people on this site discriminate Hezbollah, they jump to the "Iranian", "Towel-head", "Terrorists" description and push on it. They are supported by Iran but did they implement their religious rules on the Christians or the non-Shiite sects. They implement their rules in their own areas concerning religion and these areas' people do not have a problem with it. If they wanted to turn Lebanon into a Tehran, would they have hired the FPM's 12 ministers to do it (All Christian)? I will honestly tell you as a Shiite, you're sick of Hezbollah's manipulation of power but M14 are trying to push them to the brink as much as possible.

It started with trying to prolong the war against them in 2006 (Saniora and Murr) and then the decisions to cut their security (Telecom and Airport) before May 7 happened. You can't ignore the fact that they liberated Lebanon and still trying to, you can't ignore the fact that they protected Christians in the South when Lahd got kicked out, you can't ignore the fact that they operate in their own areas not bothering any other sects. Now, after all they laid out on the table discrediting the STL, not one Lebanese from M14 announced that they'll look into it. It's obviously a biased and discredited STL to the average viewer and Naharnet portrays the best biased reporting after their article of his speech and that's why it'll be my last comment here. I love Christians and they're most of my friends here in this country but reading the comments on this site is disguting with insults towards my sect and I'll avoid it. God bless Lebanon and the resistance that liberates us from the Zionists

lebanwser: what do you call a party that pledged allegiance to iran if not an iranian party? (pledging allegiance means to obey to a foreign country isn t it treason? )
what do you call a party that clearly says it will not obey to any lebanese gvt?
what do you call a party that has an arsenal far more important than the army?
what do you call a party that makes his own laws it the zones it controls?

you perfectly know that hezb doesn t want the power because it is far more easier for them to obey the iranian agenda that way!
you perfectly know that if they take the power all the international community will be against lebanon and this party will lose credibility among its followers! it s easier and more profitable to play the victim, it sells better to the opinion!
finally you perfectly know there are also shiites against this party...

so you may call sionists all the lebanese who are against hezbollah if it makes you happy, we call this party an iranian militia!
