Raids on Syria's Rebel East Aleppo Kill 19 Civilians

Air raids on two rebel-held districts of Syria's battleground second city Aleppo on Tuesday killed 19 civilians, including three children, a monitoring group said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the strikes were carried out by either Russian or regime aircraft and that dozens of people were also wounded, some of them critically, in Tariq al-Bab and Al-Sakhur neighbourhoods.

IS Attack Kills Nine Iraqis Near Jordan Border

Fighters of the Islamic State group attacked an Iraqi border guard base near Jordan on Tuesday, killing at least nine people before being beaten back, officers said.

Russia Announces First Syria Strikes from Iran Base

Russian warplanes on Tuesday flew a bombing run from an Iranian airstrip against jihadist groups in war-torn Syria, the defense ministry said -- the first time Moscow has reported using an Iranian air base.
