the only country? really? how about israel bombing sientists? how about assassinating hamas members in lebanon, dubai & elsewhere? how about carpet bombings of civilian areas, from gaza to dahie, to fallouja and beyond? how about the sectarian ideology of a jewish only state? man you got to wake up, and stop spreading this cheap propaganda.
in april the emergency law was lifted, as the opposition asked, in july the opposition parties were allowed for the first time to enter elections & government, as they asked... yet, despite these concessions & the calls for talks they continued, showing their intentions were not the one they claimed.
now this new constitution which guarantees freedom and democracy and is a huge step forward is put on the table, also answering demands of the people and the opposition.
now the masks are about to fall, as the real people of syria got what they wanted, they now have much more freedom and democracy then any saudi, bahreini, qatari or kuwaiti could dream of. the people, once their demands have been answered can consider they won.
the remote-controlled salafi militias however, have not won, they are still frustrated because their aim was not to give power and freedom to the people, it is to grab it and claim it for themselves. these are the ones who havent won and will continue to fight
First about the dead, what i'm surprised is how easily and widely uncorroborated figures, thrown out by a mysterious "london syria observatory" are spread.
Second, many these dead are soldiers and policemen, political & administrative figures.
And third i tend to believe it is more likely that the salafis are behind the deaths of civilians, children and women, as this only serves their interests. It has absolutely no tactical or strategic sense for the regime to do that, since it only fuels anger against it.
On the subject of your speculations and predictions i have no comment, future will tell.
i dont believe they are the only ones fighting and never said so. however you guys seem to ignore they are.
when extremists armed to the teeth by foreign powers use the cover of demonstrations to open fire on policemen and soldiers, and in all likelihood also on civilians to incite anger and resentment, what do you expect the authorities to do? you come on and think about that for a second.
