Rocket from Syria Hits Outskirts of Hermel

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

A rocket from Syrian territories landed on Tuesday on the outskirts of the eastern Bekaa town of Hermel, a Hizbullah stronghold, media reports said.

However, the state-run National News Agency reported that explosion sounds heard in Hermel were caused by a raid carried out by Syrian planes inside Syria near the border region of al-Qaa in the northern Bekaa.

Hermel's Municipal Chief Sobhi Saqr denied in comments to Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) that a blast rocked the town, pointing out that Syrian planes bombarded areas in the eastern mountain range on the Lebanese-Syrian border .

Hermel and other Bekaa areas were hit by several rockets in recent months, with Syrian rebels claiming most of the attacks, which they say are in retaliation to Hizbullah's military intervention in Syria.

Meanwhile, security forces began fortifying its presence in Hermel by taking extraordinary measures inside the town and on its entrances.

The army erected checkpoints in the town to thoroughly inspect vehicles and checking the identification papers of passers-by.

The measures were taken by the army after residents demanded a comprehensive plan to prevent any new blast in the area.

Hermel was the target of several attacks recently, particularly after Hizbullah sent men to Syria to fight alongside President Bashar Assad's troops against mainly Sunni rebel groups.

This is OK, rockets coming from Syria are different than the ones coming from Israel according to Mansour.

Missing phillipo 11 February 2014, 11:34

They are different.
1. They are Russian, the Israeli are home made.
2. They are less accurate than the Israeli.
3. They target civilians on purpose, the Israeli don't.

Whatever, FM Mansour knows that his leaders in Damascus can do no wrong, and so what if some of his fellow Lebanese are wounded, or Heaven forbid killed.

Thumb Mystic 11 February 2014, 11:45

Israel do attack Civilians on purpose all the time. Are you joking?

ROFL philippo, i see you dont shame away from repeating the lamest israeli propaganda, but you forgot to add little heart in your comments.

if israeli rockets (which are produced in the US and given as charity to the needy little cancer) were so precise, and the israeli army was so "moral" and not targeting civilians on purpose, then tell me how come they killed 10 times more civilians than fighters, while hezbollah killed 10 times more soldiers than civilians.

oh, and please dont hesitate to give me the overused "hezbollah fights from civilian areas" because then i'd like to know why dahiyeh was razed with massive bombs and there was no fighting there.

Thumb _mowaten_ 11 February 2014, 12:08

when you're done searching through your hasbara resources for propaganda, you might want to get some real facts to compare with. try this:

Extensive onsite investigations by Human Rights Watch (HRW) and Amnesty International (AI) found that the pattern of bombings and civilian casualties could not be dismissed as accidents nor excused by alleged "human shielding" by Hizb Allah fighters (though both AI and HRW have extensively criticized Hizb Allah as well). Both organizations concluded that Halutz's forces were bombing without regard to whether they were hitting civilians or fighters, and in some instances targeted civilians and civilian objects directly, both of which are war crimes under international law.

@Mystic ... as much as we all hate Israel, If the KEZBOLLAH COWARDS weren't hiding behind civilians, would Israel target civilians ?

I'm not sure ! But having said that, as much as I HATE your KEZB ! I would side with it anytime against Israel. But then again, I'm not sure I would offer KEZB members the same support as we did in 2006 providing food, shelter for the displaced.

It's time KEZB members accept their choices of supporting a war loving terrorist party and face the consequences for themselves. We have paid enough for your mistakes !

Thumb FlameCatcher 11 February 2014, 16:04

Believe what you want :) it doesn't make it true !

You can believe Hassan is a prophet for all i care. This doesn't make it true.

And yes, I hate Hezbollah, Iran (Government) and Syrian (Government). I love the people though which are bigger and stronger than the terrorist regimes you support !

If I supported Israel, I would do it with pride. I don't hide myself behind fake positions and excuses. I don't have hidden agendas like Nasrallah.

"Israel's claims about pin-point strikes and proportionate responses are pure fantasy. As a researcher for Human Rights Watch, I've documented civilian deaths from bombing campaigns in Kosovo and Chechnya, Afghanistan and Iraq. But these usually occur when there is some indication of military targeting ... In Lebanon, it's a different scene. Time after time, Israel has hit civilian homes and cars in the southern border zone, killing dozens of people with no evidence of any military objective"

First thankfully no one was hurt indeed..
Now tackeling the subject: imagine erdogan ministers go official an do a speach saying that they are sending thousands of organized turkish fighters under the name of their party (while turky gov says he is dissociating himalwf from syria's problems..)
Do u think there will be repercutions?..
Do u really thing that hezbos can go there officially sending thousands of fighters with no repurcutions on lebanon (sorry i forgot mansour said it does not affect lebanon dissociation policy...
Really guys?? Really??...

Thumb _mowaten_ 11 February 2014, 12:02

turkey did send tens of thousands of fighters and weapons to syria. that they had them imported from libya and elsewhere doesnt make a big difference.
and yet, if terrorist attacks took turkish civilians as targets we would all condemn it.

also, if there was an army of tens of thousands of fanatical freaks hostile to turkey and with a visceral sectarian hatred of turks stacking up on their borders and attacking turks in border villages, you can be sure erdogan would take action before they invade en masse.

Missing imagine_1979 11 February 2014, 12:11

Ok mowaten again (cause it seems hard for u to understand)
Their is also french fighters, belgians, even from north europe does it means france belgium...Are at war?
But if french ministers says officially in a public speach they are sending fighters to syria would th be different?
Would it have more repercussions?
What do u think?
Should i simplyfy more or u are just playing dum?...
Man please just some logic... Not much, some...

Thumb _mowaten_ 11 February 2014, 12:28

hahaha really? you call me dumb but you shot yourself in the foot. point is, yes french fighters have gone there, and france as a country has announced sending weapons and financial support to groups fighting against the syrian regime. does that make it okay to blow up french civilians??? same goes for the UK and US and Libya and Saudi and Qatar, amongst others, who openly announced sending money/fighters/weapons to syria. would you say "they deserve it" to innocent civilians from these countries?

why is it, if you claim to be lebanese, that you'd be much more offended and empathetic to their civilians than you are with your own countrymen? is it because the targets in dahiyeh or hermel are from a different sect?

Missing imagine_1979 11 February 2014, 13:32

Again mowaten french intervention in libya was official while fighters in syria get jail on their way back and not welcomed as martyr by french ministers... U see the difference?..
And no, it doesnot make it fine to kill civillians, any civillians, neither in france, lebanon.. Even israel..
Finally stop this secterian crap, i'm born christian, but very secular person, went to cyprus to get civil mariage cause my contry is to dum to accept this on its soil (so not secular only by words) and i donnot make difference on religious affiliations, so stop hidding behind religions, if a party put my contry at risk jeopardise the live of my family because of what he think (especialy when it is a religious party: ISLAMIC RESISTANCE) then i will be against despite what god they believe in (or even if they donnot believe in god)...
No really go have some chupacups mouwaten...

Thumb _mowaten_ 11 February 2014, 18:18

imagine: french intervention in syria is official too. the fact that they dont want the jihadis to come back alive is another matter, they're sending expendable fighters that they want to get rid of. doesnt make any difference for the tens of thousands of syrians who are killed in the process. if takfiris have the right to revenge on lebanese civilians, then syrians should have the right to revenge on french, british, american, saudi, qatari, libyans, afghan and chetchen civilians. either take a stand against it, or stop pretending you're talking out of some moral high ground.

If you're unhappy with the news that's reported here, and you think it's all lies and they're pro Saudi, why come here? Why register an account? And why follow the reports? Run along to Al-Manar or some other "reliable" site that you might like.

You wanted to destroy the resistance communications, they stopped you and humiliated you infront of the whole world and Lebanese. No matter how much you try to hide it, everybody knows M14 were defeated that day, and you were the weakest people in Lebanon.

Well, you may say Im jumping the gun and youre right, lets wait for the STL and maybe you will understand what I mean.
