Geagea Says LF Winning Elections Will 'Improve Exchange Rate'

W460

Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea said Tuesday that if his party wins the elections, “there will be an instant improvement in the economic sector and the currency exchange rate,” as he claimed that his party has the best economic plan.

Geagea also named former deputy PM and health minister Ghassan Hasbani as a candidate for the Greek Orthodox seat in Beirut’s first electoral district, urging Beirutis to vote for the party that will “rescue” Lebanon from “the hell we have been dragged into by the Free Patriotic movement and Hizbullah.”

“Change is possible,” Geagea said, adding that people must choose well and give their votes to “the party that has the power and the readiness to confront and change.”

The LF chief also said that Judge Tarek Bitar on his own has faced Hizbullah for six months, wondering what Hizbullah would do if they were confronted by a president, a government, a minister and a majority. “Would they assault all the Lebanese?” Geagea asked.

" wondering what Hizbullah would do if they were confronted by a president, a government, a minister and a majority. “Would they assault all the Lebanese?” Geagea asked."

On May 7th, they diid exactly that! You had the majority in Parliament, in the cabinet, and a president who was not appointed by them. They occupied Beirut and the army stood by and watched.

Unfortunately, religion has a stronger grip on the Lebanese people than ever before. Especially among sunni and shiah communities. The number of new mosques sponsored by people from God knows where tells us that a reform to a civil state will be a difficult one. Based on this, the christians will be reluctant to risk what they have got left in change for a possible (but not so likely) a peaceful, true democratic and reformated Lebanon.

The time has come for Mr Geagea to retire and let the creative young generation take over the LF.
