Jumblat says some ambassadors asked him to remove pro-Oct. 7 tweet

Former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat said he has faced "lame condemnations" because of his support for Hamas' October 7 attack.

Jumblat revealed in remarks published Wednesday in An-Nahar that some ambassadors have lectured him over his tweet following the attack. The tweet on the X platform lauded the attack, Hamas, and the Palestinians for breaking "the myth of Israeli superiority."

"Some ambassadors have asked me to delete the post, but I refused," Jumblat said.

He added that Hamas militants are still Palestinians even if they are part of the Muslim Brotherhood and that they cannot be eradicated. "What the Israelis call kibbutzim are military posts and they hold dance parties there," he said.

Jumblat went on to say that the Lebanese have the right to self-defense. "The South is exposed at every moment, it is under bombardment. How can we tell the southerners not to defend themselves?"

The weird thing about racism is that it is a guarantee of unhappiness for the racists themselves. Nobody really likes living in a bottle.

"Because we all had such a good time last time we laid down for one Palestinian organization or another, let's do it again ..."

I seem to remember Berri and Jumblat laying down together in that same bed, at the time Arafat similarly co-opted Lebanon for foreign interests.

Lebanese should be soooooooooo proooouuuud of all the learning and progress made in the intervening years ... [NOT!]

The druze are stationed in the north to fight hezballah. And what did they get in return? No shelters, bad infrastructure and their men are used as canon fodder. Also, its part of their religious leaders strategy to ALWAYS side with whoever has the most power. This is why their brethren in Syria are staunch allies with Bashar but when an alqaida group took over one of their areas, they allied with them instead. They were previously allied with the ottomans and then the british colonialists. When israel is close to its end, you will see them switch side again and be shamelessly loyal to those who fight israel. In other words, their current loyalty is irrelevent and they are irrelevent as they are a tiny group who are just looking to survive. The druze in lebanon chose a different path and even have different political groups and allies.
