Hochstein heads to Beirut after receiving clarifications on Lebanese position

U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein will leave Washington to Beirut shortly, a U.S. official told U.S. news portal Axios on Monday evening.

U.S. officials had earlier told Axios that Hochstein had informed Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri that he was delaying his departure to Beirut until getting “more clarifications” about the Lebanese position regarding the cease-fire agreement.

But Israel's Channel 12 later reported that Hochstein "will leave for Beirut, after he received clarifications that will allow that the agreement be signed."

MTV later reported that Hochstein would arrive in Beirut on Tuesday as had been previously reported. He is expected to visit Israel on Wednesday as part of his efforts to push the ceasefire deal forward.

Israel is "expecting major progress in the ceasefire negotiations with Lebanon next week, during Hochstein's visit," Israeli state media had quoted sources as saying.

According to Al-Jazeera, Lebanon delivered its response to Hochstein's proposal on Monday.

The proposal was received by Berri on Thursday.

Please don't insult our intelligence. You are not negotiating with Lebanon but with Hizb (Iran) and its Vichy government & Useful Idiots. What Lebanese really want is to put Hizb Leaders and accomplices (Berri, Mikati, Aoun, Bassil, Frangieh, Jumblat, Batrak, Mutrans and many others of the political mafia and Useful idiots) in prison for Grand Treason; confiscate all Hizb properties (including gold & Bitcoins) to help the displaced; and transfer all Hizb arms and rockets to the Lebanese army. Army should consider asking for new recruits from the many Shia victims of Hizbollah crimes and Suleimani's Kiss-of-death. Tens of thousands will volunteer to help army get rid of Hizbollah cancer once for all so Lebanon has a chance for life in dignity, freedom and prosperity as we did prior to Hizb occupation and its political mafia.
