French envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian met Wednesday with Hezbollah lawmaker Mohammad Raad in Haret Hreik.

Le Drian also met on Tuesday and Wednesday with President Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil, Kataeb leader Sami Gemayel, and former PSP leader Walid Jumblat.

Le Drian and Raad discussed the repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanon despite the ceasefire agreement reached in late November. They both said they supported the renewal of the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

As Le Drian visited Lebanon, United Nations peacekeepers said rock-throwing individuals confronted them during a patrol in south Lebanon, calling repeated targeting of their troops "unacceptable".

Lebanese leaders, including Aoun, Salam, and Berri condemned the attacks on UNIFIL patrols.

Israel also struck south Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday, killing three people.

Le Drian said France is working on organizing a conference for the reconstruction of war-hit Lebanese regions and renewing the UNIFIL's mandate, as Raad said his party is keen on discussing reforms in parliament.

And so, according to Naharnet, neither is Raad a Lebanese leader nor does he condemn the attaches on UNIFIL patrols.

So why bother talking and writing about him, when he is so irrelevant?
