Report: Netanyahu Warns Lebanon against any Hizbullah Provocation

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that his country would launch a strike against Lebanon if Hizbullah provoked Tel Aviv.

Israeli daily Haaretz reported on Monday that a western diplomat conveyed Netanyahu’s message to the Lebanese government.

The Israeli PM had held talks with the western diplomat in Jerusalem recently, the daily said.

"As far as we're concerned, the Lebanese government is responsible for whatever happens in its jurisdiction," Netanyahu allegedly told the Western diplomat.

The Israeli daily quoted a senior official as saying: “Netanyahu perceives Hizbullah as part of the Lebanese administration… therefore; he clarified that if Hizbullah attacks Israel, the latter will strike back forcefully- without differentiating between Hizbullah and the State of Lebanon.”

However, Haaretz said that Netanyahu’s office refused to comment on the report.

The daily said that any Hizbullah strike against Israel would prompt the Israeli Defense Forces to retaliate against Lebanon's “infrastructure… and would not limit the strike to targets identified with Hizbullah.”

Netanyahu’s threats come in light of several recent reports saying that Israel is preparing for scenarios that might “include a confrontation with Hizbullah.”

Several Israeli officials had warned that the Syrian regime might transfer chemical weapons, missiles or anti-aerial rockets to Hizbullah following the collapse of President Bashar’s Assad’s regime.

Hizbullah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned earlier in the month that his Iranian-backed group would make lives of Israelis "a living hell" if it was attacked.

He said that tens of thousands of Israelis would die, and not just 300 to 500.

I still do not understand the logic of hizbushaitan!
- we are Lebanese, and I do understand that we should defend our country against any foreign attack, that being israeli or syrian or whatever.
- I do not understand why should I be a pawn for Iran!: if israel attacks iran, why should hizbushaitan retaliate on israel?iran are farsi and we are Arabs, and there is nothing that relates me as Lebanese to these Farsi!
- why should my country be destroyed because of this?
if anyone has a clear view, please do share.

geha, its very similair to you and your enemy settling a dispute over a Playstation game. We are the playstation game, and the console is Lebanon, our lives mean nothing to them and they will use us for their squabbles. Both iran and israel are too big pussies that wont get into it, so they use HA, HA use us, we shut up and take it.

Thumb bigsami 27 August 2012, 17:58

Yeah Motormouth we see your side of 'clear view"....a view that comes from villagers who have been conditioned through loud speakers in the village square scaring the hell out of you with respect to Israel. Time to thaw out dude....the ice age is long gone but see that your brain is still in a frozen state! Mishmakoul....what ignorance!

Thumb Bandoul 27 August 2012, 20:05

Ouft, you are so delusional...your Party of Satan has been feeding us the same heaping pile of hot donkey chips for so long now that it has become par for the course. Put something different on the menu already , we are sick of the regurgitated twisted logic and all the lies that go with it. We reject you and the Party of Satan completely and with extreme prejudice. Get that through your thick skull and leave us be. Your tired argument has no rational and is defenseless plus you are not welcome here. Go elsewhere and commiserate with like minded people like tyyar or manar.

I agree this guy is a sick evil bastard. But this time will be diffrent, they will hit downtown, west and east beirut, the christian areas as well, they will turn us even more against eachother if you don't think that's possible. The israelis have to do something with Iran before the US elections. They know that once obama gets his 2nd term, there is alot that the Israelis won't get anymore. Obama has said many times, his 2nd term will be diffrent in relations to our region and he will do what is fair because he's not worried about another term. I frankly think Obama is a good guy, but even though he is president, his power is limited. The only leverage the Israelis have with the americans is causing a fiasco of a war now, before the elections. So brace yourself people, and HA has to be smart, this time, we can't afford being murdered all over, we have no where to go, and they do not speak for all of us, or even all Shiaa, not at all.

Israel would not be threatening even one single Lebanese, if the Hizballah terrorists were not on the border.

Thumb andre.jabbour 27 August 2012, 15:08

Take down Lebanon, it isn't like we're getting electricity anyway. thanks to my former friend the General Michel Aoun and his incompetent in-law. You might as well help us rebuild it whilst in the process.

Nice Picture of Bibi. It illustrates perfectly the sad state of Israeli politics. Bibi, leave the state of Lebanon out of this and confine your inflammatory rhetoric to the Hizbullah Militia.

Israel has no argument with Lebanon. Unfortunately there is a terrorist organisation in the south of Lebanon that for reasons unknown the Lebanese Government and Army are not willing to challenge.

Thumb Bandoul 27 August 2012, 20:09

...in the south and in the government...we are trapped between the Party of Satan and the Israeli/Iranian conflict.

Missing phillipo 27 August 2012, 16:46

I don't believe that Israel would attack Lebanon.
However on the other hand I am equally certain that if that idiot got out of his rat hole and ordered rockets to be fired at Israel, (almost certainly on orders from Iran), then Israel would hit back.
Israel has no border dispute with the Government of Lebanon, so any attacks from the northern side of its border will/can only come from terrorist organisations operating under instructions from abroad.

Tם: the 1 phoenix: I'm a little older than you with few years, Son of holocaust survivors, who were threaten by Hitler and his collaborators.
Their childhood passed in death camps.
Since I was born I heard threatens from Arabian countries. Was 4 years old, threaten by Fidain , 14 year old in 1967, threaten by Abd El Nasser, King Hussein of Jordan and Hafez El Assad from Syria. Was 20 years old, almost liquidated by Egypt and Syria during our holiest day-Yom Kippur war in 1973.
Must say Lebanon kept quiet, till opened its legs (sorry its borders) to the PLO and other terror groups who made Lebanon as its base of terror against Israel. After 1982 when PLO kicked out from Lebanon we are threaten by Hezballa.
These days we are threaten by Iranian and their servant in Lebanon -Hezballa.
You want to live in peace and prosperity? keep borders quiet.

It is real Red Alert not only for Israeli. The head of state Mr. Beniamin Netanyahu has been killed and replaced by castrated version. This time by Martian one - that have something like wall in middle of his ear. Ears that has shrinked.

The country will be desolated and all those that are obsoleted - ether by having unesthetic big ears or just semits and homo sapiens will be marginalised and even sent on first line of front. It is something that not only dinosaurs like Simon Peres should take to their hearts. The state in such form will be not tolerated by Lord, as Kingdom of Judah was not...

Israel isn't looking for destruction of Lebanon.
Lebanese borders with Israel were quiet since 1948 till early 70's. violence directed from Lebanon toward Israel by PLO.
Don't blame Israel for allowing terrorist acting against Israel having a warn best in Beirut.
So whose fault is it ?
We wish Lebanon prosperity and peace, for good old days sake to return being the Switzerland of the Mediterranean. Violence in one side of the border will jeopardize stability of Lebanon too.
The Hezballa who are claiming that they are the protectors of Lebanon are ready to fight Israel till the last drop of blood but of the Lebanese people.
You are well aware that in wars those who will pay the price will be the unprotected citizen and infrastructure.
You are also aware that while Israel invested billions for building shelters and protected rooms in every single house in Lebanon its not same.
Wish we'll not come to this day.

Thumb ramzi 28 August 2012, 14:14

Danny, thanks for assuring us you just wish the best for us and just looking after your border(sarcastic). Frankly thats not enough, u may think that way, but we also see the zionist way and ideology which is a radical cancer in your society as in ours, so pls, spare us the peaceful words that we would welcome and vote for leaders that are at least in the middle. Israelis have bcome more and more right wing and even if HA is extreme, u have extremism too, often more extreme. We would want nothing more than peace, but u cant make us believe ur government shed a tear in Qana. Wounds are deep, and extremism is the cause, on both sides. I also hope this yearand many pass with peace for both of us.

Thumb bigsami 27 August 2012, 17:54

Motormouth aka BSThrower....the only cancer that plagues Lebanon are the scums you worship! They are not a legitimate governing power and NOT recognized by anyone on the planet other than being terrorists and murderers! They forced themselves on the country through mere weapons that were supplied by their evil leaders Iran/Assad. You are scum to even try to justify this article as an Israeli threat to Lebanon whereby we all know that the only threat is HA! Such a moron!

This Cunt better direct his "wrath" and "frustration" (tonge-in-cheek) against the real source of instability in the Middle East i.e his partners in crime Iran. If he is to refute the very sound argument that Israel has long term plans to annex Lebanon for its water and other resources by creating vacum out of the instability coming from pitting the Lebanese against eachother along with the ASSad regime and Khamenist terrorist regime. The fact of the matter these three abominations of governments are if anything fighting over Lebanon's "resources" on Lebanese soil. The whole free world, that has invested very heavily in blood and treasure in trying to usher in Peace to the Middle East and stability and security for the wholew world,is watching ...

Thumb J_Sarkis 27 August 2012, 18:43

Isreal must just go away. All they do is irritate and antaganise the Arab countries and make threats all the time. All I hope is that if Hezollah does attack Isreal, they make it a damn good attack, and wipe the annoying and fake state of the map for good. Isreal can go against Hezbollah, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and they will win, but what we need is for all the Arabs to join together, because not even Isreal with U.S. backing can stand against Iran, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Hezbollah, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. If we all just help each other, we can rid the world of the horrible country.

@ramzi, my president [Mr. Obama] may very well be a very good person, in fact, I have no doubt that he is, but the truth is that he has been a very bad president of the United States and we the people are working very hard to make sure he does not get re-elected to a second term. As to your misguided claim that he is "fair", you must be watching too much NPR or CNN. What's fair about getting involved with helping the Libyan revolution but letting the Syrian revolution twist in the wind? The USA serves its interest and not what it thinks is fair. Those who think otherwise are naive and/or ignorant.

If HA were trully Lebanese and had lebanese interests first, they would forget their issue with israel and the palestinians. the larger sunni countries do not care less for the palestinians why should the shia, iranian HA?

If lebanon and HA wanted to, they could easily keep a quiet and peacefull boarder with Isreal..easily
